Leeds United will spend Christmas Day 16th, two places above the Premier League relegation zone, after a Monday-night boost to their survival hopes.
"We got into good moments, but never really threatened - you have to ask more questions," said Dyche after the defeat, speaking to Sky Sports.
Daniel Farke’s side climbed on Saturday night with a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace at Elland Road. Dominic Calvert-Lewin struck twice before the break, with Ethan Ampadu and Anton Stach adding second-half goals.
That moved Leeds six points clear of West Ham United in 18th and above Nottingham Forest, who went to Fulham on Monday. Sean Dyche’s side needed three points to reclaim 16th but lost 1-0, decided by a first-half added-time penalty after Douglas Luiz fouled Brazilian winger Kevin. VAR confirmed the decision and Jimenez converted in a game of few chances.
One month ago they were in the bottom three on goal difference on 25 November, but eight points from four matches has driven a turnaround heading into Christmas.
Leeds could be 17th by the time they visit Sunderland on Sunday, with Forest in action a day earlier. Forest host Manchester City and West Ham welcome Fulham on Saturday, so Farke’s side will know their position before kick-off at the Stadium of Light.
