Leeds United ‘to target’ £40m Chelsea move for Liam Delap | OneFootball

Leeds United have been linked with a move for Liam Delap, and any deal would underline 49ers Enterprises' summer promise to raise the squad's level.

According to The i Paper, Leeds have joined Nottingham Forest and Everton in expressing interest in the 23-year-old, and a move is viewed as ambitious at this stage. He is thought to be valued by Chelsea between 35 million and 40 million.

Delap's Chelsea future has been debated despite him only arriving from Ipswich last year, and speculation over a departure has grown.

Daniel Farke has already added Harry Wilson and Tarik Muharemovic on permanent deals, and news this week indicated Leeds are close to signing James Trafford from Manchester City in a deal believed to be around 30 million.

"This coming season and window is about improving the squad even more, so it requires an extra level to be able to come into the squad and earn minutes right away," said chairman Paraag Marathe, speaking to BBC Radio Leeds in June. "So we will be pursuing players that have that extra level to them and that's our plan."
