Leeds United are waiting for Wolverhampton Wanderers to respond to their enquiry for Jorgen Strand Larsen before deciding their next steps, with any January addition complicated by PSR limits. According to Leeds Live, permanent business would require creating room even if fees are spread over contracts.

A high Wolves price would still bite in the short term. There is a sense the league’s bottom side might consider bids to ease their own PSR before likely relegation, but this is not a formality and Leeds, who have not made an offer, are relegation rivals.

Leeds have long admired Strand Larsen and Wolves’ predicament has opened a window to explore. Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are also keen, so expectations are being tempered rather than abandoned.

Talk around Joel Piroe persists amid limited minutes and PSR. The club are not forcing him out, and he is backing himself to win a place after no Premier League starts since August.

Club figures have pushed back on suggestions of talks with Celtic, citing the 49ers’ involvement with Rangers and the likelihood any exit would not be a loan. Piroe has not ruled out moving if the right chance arises, but he is not seeking to leave and is contracted to 2027.

A centre-forward remains on the radar only if the fit and finances align. With few suitable mid-season options, Leeds could finish the window without a new striker.

Despite Jack Harrison’s imminent loan to Fiorentina, a full-back is not being targeted, with cover seen in the wing-back system. After Saturday’s 1-0 win over Fulham, Daniel Farke said a setback in Jaka Bijol’s hamstring recovery could force late action, with the defender out for around three to five weeks.

He added there could be two, perhaps three, arrivals this month without swelling numbers. Facundo Buonanotte arrived on Thursday after Harry Gray joined Rotherham United on loan.
