Daniel Farke has spoken to the media about Isaac Schmidt and Largie Ramazani, as well as Ampadu's recovery
Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has given important injury updates about three of his players ahead of the Whites' trip to Swansea City on Sunday afternoon, including a revelation on Ethan Ampadu's recovery.
Leeds are aiming to rediscover their form on the road in South Wales, after failing to win in their last four away games, with a 1-0 defeat to Millwall last time they played away from Elland Road.
That is a stark contrast to their impressive recent outings on home turf, where they have lost just one game all season, and won each of their last five games at Elland Road as a result.
Farke's side currently sit in third spot in the Championship, just two points off joint table-toppers Sunderland and Sheffield United, but will face a trip to 11th-placed Swans without a myriad of first-team players, amid numerous injury issues throughout the playing squad.
The German boss has been speaking to the media ahead of Sunday, and he provided more in-depth updates on three players in particular, who have each already faced time out with respective injury troubles.
According to The Athletic's Nancy Froston, Farke revealed that winger Largie Ramazani has been taking part in first-team training ahead of a potential return to action next week, but will still not seemingly be available for the Swansea game, following four games out with an ankle injury.
The Whites' head-coach also lay Isaac Schmidt's issues bare, and confirmed that the Swiss full-back had surgery at the start of the international break, so is also set to miss out this weekend.
He said, via LeedsLive: "Isaac Schmidt needed hernia surgery during the break and will miss Sunday. Won't last too long.
"Largie (Ramazani) joined us first time during this week. Next week with three games will come too soon for him. Could be on the bench. Short appearances."
Farke also provided a small insight into Leeds captain Ethan Ampadu's recovery, following his serious knee injury picked up in September that looked set to rule him out until the new year.
"(Ethan Ampadu is in the) final stages of rehab. Won't train next week with the team. Maybe after that he can hopefully join us and be a big boost," Farke added, via LeedsLive.
It is imperative that the Whites have their top players back fit as soon as possible, and while Schmidt has struggled to feature since his summer move from St Gallen, Ramazani has been a standout when he has featured, and will be key to their potential success this season.
He also joined the club in the summer, from Spanish side Almeria, and has registered three goals and one assist in just eight appearances and six starts so far this term, so is clearly a player that could take the Championship by storm if he avoids injury issues going forward.
The Whites are just about to head into a busy Christmas period, and news of skipper Ampadu's potential return ahead of schedule will be a huge boost to their chances of winning more games to keep up their challenge on the top two.
Farke will still be without the aforementioned trio for this weekend, however, but regardless of their below par away form, the Whites will still surely fancy their chances against a Swansea side that has won just two of their last nine league games.
