Leeds United are reportedly pressing to secure the services of Lazio striker Valentin ‘Taty’ Castellanos as the January transfer window approaches. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the English side has identified the Argentine as a key reinforcement for their survival push, though a gap in valuation currently exists.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito is said to have set a firm asking price of €30 million for the 27-year-old, who was surprisingly dropped to the bench in the club’s recent 1-1 draw against Udinese. While Leeds are keen on the deal, they are currently aiming for a lower figure. However, the report suggests that negotiations are likely to follow, especially as manager Maurizio Sarri reportedly considers the striker a mismatch for his tactical system.
The Bianconeri are already looking at potential replacements, with Atletico Madrid’s Giacomo Raspadori mentioned as a dream target if the funds from a Castellanos sale are secured. As for the player, despite interest from Flamengo in Brazil, he is reportedly determined to continue his career in Europe.
