Leeds United’s forward line could evolve this month if Daniel Farke lands key targets, with difficult decisions possibly needed to finance a striker. Their first January signing arrived last week.
Facundo Buonanotte, a summer target, joined on loan after cutting short a season-long Chelsea switch from Brighton. He watched Saturday’s 1-0 win over Fulham from the bench. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds have enquired about Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Any agreement for the Norwegian looks complicated, with Premier League interest elsewhere and Leeds already at their three-year PSR spending limit.
Noah Okafor is kept. The Swiss winger, an £18m summer arrival from AC Milan, has been inconsistent but offers pace, trickery and the option to play wide or off a centre-forward. Brenden Aaronson also stays, improving markedly in recent weeks and able to cover the frontline or an attacking midfield role.
Willy Gnonto remains despite potential profit after his £4m move, with no suggestion of a January exit and calls for more minutes. Daniel James is out with a hamstring tendon issue and may struggle to start, but he is useful when Leeds chase goals.
Largie Ramazani is on a season-long loan at Valencia, where injuries have hindered minutes, and Leeds hope he kicks on before a June return. Jack Harrison joined Fiorentina on loan last week after one Premier League start, with a £6m summer option that Leeds hope is triggered.
