Leeds United have been dealt a significant setback with head coach Daniel Farke confirming that winger Dan James (27) will be sidelined for up to six weeks after rolling his ankle in training. The Wales international, who has only just returned from a core muscle issue, is now expected to be out until after the November international break.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Farke added, “Dan James will be out for a few weeks, he’s rolled his ankle sadly in training. The doctors say he’s likely out for four to six weeks, so realistically, we expect him back just after the November international break. If he would be back before it would be a bonus and a surprise. It’s not great news.”
Dan James will miss Saturday’s Premier League clash with Tottenham at Elland Road, along with Wales’ upcoming fixtures against England at Wembley and a crucial World Cup qualifier against Belgium.
His absence compounds Leeds’ selection issues, with fellow winger Willy Gnonto also unavailable due to a calf injury. Without two of their most direct attacking outlets, Farke faces a considerable challenge in reshaping his forward line as Leeds look to maintain momentum in the Premier League.
