Leeds United can move back to the top of the Championship table with a win over Bristol City at Elland Road tonight.
With Premier League promotion confirm, Leeds are now targeting the second-tier title amid a tense race with Burnley. The latter moved top after thrashing QPR at the weekend, but Leeds will replace them on goal difference with a win tonight.
Daniel Farke’s side are targeting a fifth consecutive Championship win and thrashed Stoke City 6-0 last time out, with Joel Piroe on target four times.
Bristol City are bidding to join Leeds in the Premier League next season. The Robins are fifth in the table and a win tonight would guarantee a play-off place. Bristol City have not competed in the top flight since 1979/80.
Daniel Farke remains without Pascal Struijk due to a foot problem, so captain Ethan Ampadu will partner Joe Rodon in central defence. Midfield Joe Rothwell also misses out with a calf complaint.
Three Leeds players made the Championship Team of the Season, announced on Sunday. Daniel James, Jayden Bogle and Ao Tanaka were all included, though there was no place for Joel Piroe despite his status as the second-tier’s top scorer. The Dutch forward’s four-goal haul against Stoke took him to 19 for the season, two clear of Norwich winger Borja Sainz.
Leeds United predicted XI: Darlow; Bogle, Rodon, Ampadu, Firpo; Tanaka, Gruev; Gnonto, Aaronson, Solomon; Piroe.
Leeds host Bristol City in the Championship on Monday 28th April 2025. Kick-off at Elland Road is 20:00 BST.
In the UK, the game is live on Sky Sports Premier League and Main Event.
