Iconic AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi has slammed Inter Milan for their lack of a defined playing style.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, Sacchi minced no words as he aimed a dig at the Serie A runners-up.
Despite winning the Scudetto in 2023/24 and falling agonizingly short last season, Inter’s performance often failed to impress.
Indeed, the Nerazzurri became synonymous with tactical rigidity due to Simone Inzaghi’s lack of flexibility.
The 49-year-old was stubborn about his signature 3-5-2 formation, making Inter predictable for their opponents.
However, Cristian Chivu promised to change the narrative upon his appointment in June.
After a 5-0 thrashing of Torino on the opening Serie A weekend, he seemed on course to keep his word.
Yet, Inter’s shortcomings came to the fore in a dismal 2-1 home defeat to Udinese on matchday two.
Therefore, Chivu has already come under scrutiny.

“The other morning, a friend of mine who is an Inter fan called me and asked: ‘Arrigo, if you were Chivu, what would you do?’
“I said, ‘I would stick to my ideas, as I’ve always done in my career.’
“My friend said, ‘I think you need to buy some players.’
“And I replied, ‘No, you need to buy the game, which costs less and never gets injured.’
“That’s the problem – there still isn’t a game,” Sacchi explained.
Then, he delivered his verdict on the criticism directed toward Chivu.
“It’s inevitable. If you’re the coach of Inter and you lose at home against Udinese, there can be no applause.
“Chivu’s Inter is in limbo: it’s unclear whether it’s his team or still Inzaghi’s. Patience is needed.
“To Chivu, I’d allow myself just one piece of advice. Do everything to get into the heads of your players and convince them to follow the path he has drawn.
“On Sunday against Udinese, I saw a team that was neither harmonious nor balanced.
“Harmony and balance are the foundation of any great team.”
