Former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has surprised everyone with the release of a new musical single titled ‘Cibeles’.
The track has already gone viral across social media, as many fans believe its lyrics are a direct message to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, reflecting on the defender’s controversial exit from the club.
The song appears to be a personal and emotional tribute both to Real Madrid supporters and to the iconic Cibeles fountain, the traditional site where Los Blancos celebrate their titles.
Interestingly, certain verses have sparked debate, with many interpreting them as veiled messages towards the club’s president.
“There are things I didn’t tell you that still hurt me. I never wanted to leave, you asked me to fly,” Ramos sings in the opening lines.
He continues with phrases that fuel the speculation –
“I wasn’t in me, you asked me to fly”, “Thank goodness I left, because you didn’t treat me the same.
“I’d rather die standing than live on my knees”, “you forgot about me, you left me aside. Without being able to decide, that’s what hurts me the most.”
Ramos’ departure from Real Madrid in 2021 was one of the most dramatic stories of recent years.
The former captain initially rejected an offer from the club, but later tried to accept it, only to be told by Florentino Perez that the proposal had already expired.
That decision marked the end of his long and decorated spell at the Santiago Bernabeu, with the defender leaving for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
The tension between Perez and Ramos dominated headlines at the time, and the pain of that separation clearly lingers.
In the final part of ‘Cibeles’, however, the defender hints that the story may not be over yet: “and although everything was like that, I would be delighted to return.”
