As comes with a shock relegation from the Championship, many first-team players are set to walk away from the King Power Stadium and take on new challenges.

The East Midlands outfit have already waved goodbye to 11 senior players at the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign, with Ricardo Pereira, Patson Daka, Jordan Ayew, Jamaal Lascelles and academy graduate Wanya Marçal all departing on the expiration of their contracts, while Bilal El Khannouss completed permanent move to VfB Stuttgart at the end of May.

In addition, the loan spells of Jordan James, Aaron Ramsey, Joe Aribo, Dujuan Richards and Divine Mukasa have all ended too, and will see the players return to their parent clubs.

After losing so many figures, the Foxes will be keen on getting players into the building as quickly as possible to settle in and get used to Martin’s methods, with a focus needed on adding quality to sustain a promotion push.

And one of Martin’s first arrivals to the King Power Stadium could be Crystal Palace midfielder Justin Devenny, with journalist Alan Nixon reporting that the Foxes are eyeing up a move for the talented 22-year-old.

With this in mind, FLW’s Leicester City fan pundit has commented on how big of an impact the Northern Ireland international could make in League One, should a deal get over the line.

Speaking to Football League World, Leicester City fan pundit Jamie Preston believes signing a player like Justin Devenny in League One would be a ‘major coup’, but it’s an approach the Foxes must adopt if they are to return to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Jamie told FLW: “Justin Devenny from Crystal Palace is a name I hadn’t heard of until a few days ago, but if we can get him on loan or even a permanent that will make Russell Martin’s stand in even better.

“He sounds like a good lad from Palace. A few Palace fans have said he’s a pretty good, competitive midfielder. He has played 20 odd games in the Premier League and Europe, scored in a penalty shootout as well, which takes some doing at his age.

“He’s probably a player that Leicester needs but can we get him in? What a major coup it would be for Russell Martin if we could get him in and sign him up.

“It would be great to get a young and talented player instead of these older heads. We need some new blood in the team, and it would be absolutely fantastic.”

Leicester City would show massive statement of intent with Justin Devenny signing

It would certainly be a major shock for Justin Devenny to drop all the way down to League One after featuring 21 times in the Premier League for Crystal Palace last term, but Leicester obviously feel confident in their chances of landing the talented midfielder.

It would also be a massive statement of intent to the rest of the League One clubs that Leicester don’t plan to hang around in the division for too long, with Devenny surely having too much quality for the third tier and would play a starring role in their promotion push.

If Devenny was to move away from Selhurst Park, then a move to the Championship should be his calling card. Therefore, any move to the King Power Stadium is likely to be a permanent one, so he could play a part in the Foxes Championship campaign after, all being well, helping them to get out of League One.

Of course, it is early days in this rumour, but the signing of Devenny would be so crucial towards achieving Leicester’s promotion hopes.
