Leicester City may have secured a timely edge in the chase for Davis Keillor-Dunn after Conor Hourihane was appointed Russell Martin’s assistant manager.
According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, the forward is under consideration this summer, and Leicester and Sheffield Wednesday are interested in taking him back to League One. Keillor-Dunn joined Wrexham from Barnsley in January, did not start in the second half of the season and made six appearances.
Since leaving Ross County for England, he has been a regular scorer: 25 goals in two seasons for Oldham then 22 for Mansfield Town. He moved to Barnsley in summer 2024, hitting 18 in his first campaign, then 13 before January last term, prior to his Wrexham switch.
Hourihane returned to Barnsley as player-coach at the time of Keillor-Dunn’s arrival two years ago, taking the head coach role a year later. Under him, Keillor-Dunn was regarded as Barnsley’s standout performer, leading the line, linking play to feet and thriving once told he would be the number nine.
City need a new centre-forward after Jamie Vardy’s exit 12 months ago, with Patson Daka and Jordan Ayew delivering only six goals each. Plymouth’s Lorent Tolaj has also been linked, but Keillor-Dunn could be a more realistic option given Wrexham’s depth up front and his limited minutes. Hourihane’s arrival could therefore strengthen Leicester’s hand.
