The Foxes' drop back to the second-tier was confirmed on Sunday after a 1-0 defeat to top-flight leaders Liverpool at the King Power Stadium.

A summer of change beckons for the East Midlands outfit, with current boss Ruud van Nistelrooy's future uncertain following a torrid run of form that has seen them consigned to relegation.

Regardless of the Dutchman's fate, the club already look to be planning for the upcoming transfer window in certain positions, with defensive reinforcements set to be on the agenda as they seek to bounce back with a Championship title challenge.

Leicester have conceded 73 goals in the Premier League this season, which works out as the second-lowest in the whole of the league, only ahead of bottom side and fellow second-tier returnees Southampton.

They are likely to want to let go of a number of defenders in the summer. As a result, with a real refresh of their squad needed no matter who is in charge.

It is no surprise, then, to see them linked with a move for young Manchester United left-back Harry Amass, who has recently broken into the Red Devils' first-team under Ruben Amorim.

GIVEMESPORT sources have claimed that Leicester are keen to win the race for the 18-year-old's loan signature in the coming months, but they are set to face stiff competition due to his good performances since he made his senior debut for United last month, against the Foxes no less.

The same report states that the Red Devils are preparing themselves for numerous offers for Amass from Championship clubs in the summer, but Leicester will surely fancy their chances of securing a deal, given that they have just been relegated and will have a strong squad in the second-tier next season.

Amass is an exciting talent - he could be a coup for Leicester this summer

Amass has not long emerged onto the scene at United as a first-team regular, but he looks set to battle it out with Patrick Dorgu and Luke Shaw for a place in the starting eleven at left-wing-back from now until the end of the campaign, and has been tipped to become the latter's long-term replacement at Old Trafford and in the England national team.

He already has experience of being with a Championship club, after he joined the Red Devils from Watford in 2023, having been on the Hornets' books since the age of nine.

United beat off strong competition from fellow top-flight club Chelsea for his signature just under two years ago, in a testament to how highly-rated he was prior to his senior breakthrough. He has also recently captained England at under-18 level, and is surely now ready for a consistent place in a first-team side.

Ruben Amorim admitted that Amass played "really well" last time out against Wolves, despite United falling to defeat, and he has made three appearances in the Premier League now, with one more off the bench in their Europa League win over Olympique Lyon last week.

It is clear to see that Amass has a bright future in the game, but the Red Devils' next decision must be made soon as they choose what is best to aid his development even further in the short-term. They may look to keep him around their first-team for 2025/26, but Leicester will surely fancy their chances of signing him in the summer if he is allowed out on loan.
