Lennart Karl’s injury shortly before the World Cup was a major setback—for the young player and the German national team. Now, however, there is some good news: The Bayern pro has begun his rehab at Säbener Straße.

The disappointment was immense when Lennart Karl suffered a torn muscle during training with the German national team just a few days before the start of the World Cup. The 18-year-old had to put his World Cup dreams on hold, even though he had previously earned a key role on the DFB team with strong performances.

Now, however, he’s looking ahead again.

Karl is working on his comeback

As reported by BILD, Karl has now begun his rehab at FC Bayern. A photo shows the attacking player on a treadmill in the rehab area on Säbener Straße.

This marks the next step on his path back to the field. After the first few days, during which he could only train to a limited extent due to his injury, Karl is now in an active rehabilitation program.

Bayern isn’t taking any risks with Karl It has now been about three and a half weeks since the injury. This means the youngster is on schedule.

Initially, a recovery period of four to six weeks was expected. However, with muscle injuries, these are always rough estimates. The individual healing process is what matters most.

That is precisely why those in charge at FC Bayern apparently do not want to take any unnecessary risks.

Return likely not until late July

According to BILD, the Munich club is taking a deliberately cautious approach and is anticipating a rehabilitation period of up to eight weeks.

The reason: Karl had already struggled with several minor injuries in the second half of the season. To avoid a setback, the forward is not expected to return to team training until he is fully fit.

While this means Karl is likely to miss most of the summer preseason, a return to the training field by the end of July is considered a realistic scenario.

For FC Bayern, this cautious approach is understandable.

Karl is considered one of the club’s greatest talents and is expected to play an important role in the professional squad in the long term. Following his breakthrough last season and his unfortunate World Cup exit, the focus is now on a full recovery.

If his rehabilitation continues to go according to plan, the 18-year-old should be back on the field with his teammates in just a few weeks.
