RC Lens centre-back Malang Sarr (26) has set his sights on earning a call-up to the Senegal national team, L’Équipe journalist Loic Tanzi understands.

Sarr is experiencing a mid-career revival at Lens. The centre-back moved from formative club OGC Nice to Chelsea at an early age but never settled at Stamford Bridge. A loan move to AS Monaco failed to get his career back on track in the 2022/23 season, and in the summer of 2024, the decision was taken to terminate the defender’s contract.

He joined Lens in the same summer and has since rediscovered his form. He gradually built his form and fitness under Will Still last season, and under Pierre Sage, he has become a key player, playing 11 Ligue 1 games so far in this campaign.

With his return to form, Sarr has now set his sights on an international call-up. He has represented France up to U-21 level, however, he has now set his sights on a call-up to the Senegal national team. He is being followed by the African nation, L’Équipe understands, but he has yet to receive a call-up.
