Leonardo Jardim calls up Daniel Sales for Flamengo trip to Red Bull Bragantino | OneFootball

Leonardo Jardim has called up under-20 full back Daniel Sales to Flamengo’s squad for Thursday’s 21:30 Brasília time trip to Red Bull Bragantino in Bragança Paulista.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the 19-year-old right back has already appeared for the first team this season, but this is his first inclusion under Jardim.

Jardim had not worked with Sales previously, as the defender was with Flamengo’s under-20s at the Libertadores in Quito, Ecuador. On his return to Brazil he was drafted into the senior group.

Despite making the squad, he is likely to start among the substitutes. He could provide cover on either flank, having also filled in at left back.

During the recent FIFA window the head coach had only Ayrton Lucas and Emerson Royal available at full back, with Alex Sandro still recovering from a muscle injury and Varela away with Uruguay.

In Brazil the match will be broadcast on Rede Globo, with Premiere showing it on pay-per-view.
