According to Gazzetta, Lewandowski has offered himself to Milan and is ready to begin talks. The club are keen and would push for a move, albeit on wages well below his Barcelona deal, with a two-year contract and a guaranteed starting role under Massimiliano Allegri seen as their pitch.

His interest is said to be driven by Milan’s history and resurgence. They look set for the Champions League and have been in the Scudetto race. Milan are pressing his camp to decide quickly, making him their major bet with no back-up target at present.

His camp met Milan this week to hear their proposal, which has been prioritised over a significant MLS offer from Chicago Fire and interest from Saudi Arabia. Juventus have also sounded out his agent, yet Milan would be in pole position if he departs Barcelona on 30 June.

Barcelona, under a commitment from president Joan Laporta, will meet Lewandowski to offer a further year. The sporting department favour a short deal with a sharp salary reduction, half his current fixed pay plus performance-related add-ons. He is open to a more secondary role and wants clarity from Hansi Flick on next season’s plans.

Lewandowski has long prioritised Barcelona and his family are settled, yet he does not wish to hinder the club’s future. He will only continue if all sides are convinced. After a half-time withdrawal in the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Atlético, he plans to settle his future by late April, with Milan pressing hard.
