Alisson Becker Future in Focus as Juventus Step Up Interest

Liverpool face a significant decision over Alisson Becker as interest from Juventus intensifies ahead of the summer window. According to Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail, “Juventus are mad about Alisson,” with the Italian giants prioritising a new goalkeeper signing.

The report adds that “the Old Lady have stepped up in recent weeks and have made signing a new goalkeeper their priority this summer.” That level of intent signals a genuine pursuit, rather than casual monitoring.

Alternatives Considered but Alisson Favoured

Juventus are not short of options. “Alisson is not their only candidate,” with names such as James Trafford, David de Gea, Guillaume Restes and Konstantinos Tzolakis all under consideration.

However, financial factors may tilt the balance. “With future England No 1 Trafford likely to cost more money, though, Juve are said to be leaning towards Alisson, who would be cheap given he only has a year left on his Liverpool deal and turns 34 in October.” That combination of experience and reduced fee makes him an attractive target.

Player Decision Remains Unclear

There is uncertainty surrounding Alisson’s own stance. “We don’t really know where Alisson’s head is at.” That ambiguity adds complexity to Liverpool’s planning.

The Brazilian is “said to be enamoured by the prospect of returning to Serie A,” having previously played for AS Roma. His familiarity with the league, along with his ability to speak fluent Italian, strengthens the appeal of a move back to Italy.

At the same time, he is “keeping his options open for now ahead of the World Cup,” suggesting no immediate resolution is expected.

Liverpool Face Key Leadership Decision

Liverpool’s position is delicate. “Liverpool, of course, have the power to stand in his way or, to put it more mildly, convince him to stay.” With his contract expiring next summer, the club must decide whether to extend, sell, or risk losing him for a reduced fee later.

The wider context is important. “With Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson leaving, can they allow another experienced leader to depart?” That question goes beyond performance and into dressing room influence.

There are also fitness concerns. “His current hamstring injury… is the 10th time he has missed one game or more because of an injury or illness since the start of the 2023-24 season.” Availability has become a factor in long term planning.

Liverpool must now weigh experience against succession planning in what is shaping up to be a defining call.

Our View – Anfield Index Analysis

From a Liverpool perspective, this is not simply a transfer story, it is a structural decision about the spine of the team. Alisson Becker remains one of the best goalkeepers in world football, and replacing that level of reliability is far from straightforward.

There is a strong argument for keeping him. His experience, leadership, and shot stopping ability are still elite. With figures like Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson potentially moving on, removing another senior presence risks destabilising the squad further.

However, the injury record cannot be ignored. Ten separate absences since the start of the 2023-24 season points to a player whose availability is no longer guaranteed. For a position that demands consistency, that becomes a serious concern.

Juventus’ interest arrives at a moment when Liverpool could still command a fee. Waiting another year risks losing control of the situation entirely. The club must decide whether to act proactively or remain loyal to a player who has delivered consistently at the highest level.

If Alisson is open to leaving, Liverpool should already be preparing the transition. If he stays, the expectation must be clear, remain first choice and stay fit enough to justify it.
