Uncertainty continues to reign at OGC Nice. As reported by Nice-Matin, a prospective American takeover of the club has fallen through. INEOS, therefore, remain in charge and are planning for next season on the assumption that that will remain the case, even if Manchester United’s minority shareholders remain open to a sale.
High on INEOS’ agenda will be the appointment of a manager. Claude Puel, who took interim charge back in December, is not expected to be hired on a permanent basis. L’Équipe understands that Le Gym made an approach for former Chelsea and RC Strasbourg Alsace manager Liam Rosenior. The Englishman, however, has declined. Rosenior wishes to take a break following his short stint at Chelsea.
Laurent Bonadei had been offered, whilst now-former AS Monaco manager Sébastien Pocognoli has been considered. However, it is former FC Lorient manager Olivier Pantaloni who is in pole position, L’Équipe adds. He departed Les Merlus after leading the club to a tenth-place finish in Ligue 1 last season.
