Not even the script of the best novel could be written so perfectly. The place where Alicia Cervantes began her love story with the team she adores now awaits her to rise to the very top in the history of Club Deportivo Guadalajara.
The context is almost secondary: the ‘Predator’ is just one goal away from becoming the all-time top scorer in the club’s history, after matching the 160 goals once scored by Omar Bravo. And as mentioned, the circle could close in perfect fashion.
With the Estadio Olímpico Benito Juárez as the setting, ‘Licha’ officially represented Chivas Femenil for the first time on August 13, 2020, fulfilling a lifelong dream. As a starter and one of the team’s marquee signings for Guard1anes 2020, fans celebrated her first goal in the 34th minute, when she received the ball at the top of the box and, with the inside of her right foot, sent it into the side netting against Bravas.
Nearly six years have passed since that hot afternoon on the border, but every moment arrives in its time. As if it were already written, fate has prepared another visit to Ciudad Juárez, just after she moved within touching distance of an unprecedented milestone.
There, where it all began for Alicia Cervantes—against the team she has scored six times against with the Rebaño Sagrado—the all-time leading scorer of Chivas Femenil has the chance to further elevate her legend with the club she loves.
