Liga Profesional clubs, including Boca, have unanimously requested the suspension of a round of the Torneo Apertura in protest at a complaint by the Agencia de Recaudación y Control Aduanero, ARCA, against the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino.
The federation said in a statement that it has no enforceable tax debt linked to the case, that the obligations were paid voluntarily before their due dates, and that the matter is pending a Court of Appeals ruling. It argued ARCA is trying to treat not-yet-due sums as grounds for a possible criminal tax offence, which it says contradicts current law.
As a result, Boca’s meeting with Central Córdoba will be postponed. Boca were due to visit Santiago del Estero’s Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades on Sunday eight March at 19:15.
Following an executive committee meeting held today, club directors asked to suspend matchday nine, scheduled from Thursday five to Sunday eight March, across all categories.
The Liga Profesional will now need to reprogramme the entire round, including Boca’s trip. Boca face a congested schedule.
