French professional football has set a record for combined attendances across Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.

According to L'Équipe, the LFP reported 10.87 million spectators across both divisions, a record since both were reduced to 18 clubs, during 2024-2025. Ligue 1’s total was 8.39 million, down from 8.55 million amid slightly reduced commercial capacity.

Ligue 1 averaged 27,588 per match, compared with 27,948 last season, and posted a record 87.4% stadium occupancy, up from 86.7%, across 306 games.

Monaco had the lowest crowds, averaging 8,120 with 66% of Stade Louis-II filled. Marseille led the division with 62,612 and 94% occupancy, followed by Lyon on 49,848 and 86%, and Paris Saint-Germain on 47,848 and 99%. Lens were close to full houses, averaging 37,569 with a 98% fill rate.

In Ligue 2, Saint-Étienne’s 31,446 average, alongside promoted Le Mans on 12,027 and Nancy on 11,546, helped drive growth. The division averaged 8,337 per game, up 10% year on year, the fifth-best level on record. That rise equated to 183,000 extra spectators and a season total of 2.48 million in 2025-2026.
