Ligue 1 Predictions, Round 17

GFFN editor-in-chief  Luke Entwistle, and sub-editors Raphaël Jucobin and Bastien Cheval face off in our Ligue 1 predictions competition. This season, GFFN will also be hosting guests. Earlier this season, The Athletic’s Alex Barker participated and became the first name on our guest leaderboard, and he has since been joined by Julien Laurens. It’s three points for a correct score, two points for a correct score difference, and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Game of the week: Paris Saint-Germain v Paris FC, Sunday 19:45 (UK)

The start of a great rivalry? Paris FC’s takeover last year marked a new era for the club. With big backers, they are looking to shake up the landscape in the French capital. However, as things stand, there is of course a gulf between these two sides. Paris FC’s objective is simply to avoid relegation this season and their recent form, prior to the brief winter break, shows that it will be a challenge. Reinforcements are expected in January, but none will arrive in time to make an impact against PSG, whose own form was patchy in the first part of the season. In their last game before the break, they were run close by relegation favourites Metz, for example. The winter break will have done them good, however. The hope is that big names such as Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé, either injured or not fully fit before the break, will be up to speed and will be more impactful.
