Estéban Lepaul moved top of the Ligue 1 scoring chart after his brace in Stade Rennais’ 4-3 win at Brest, taking him to 16 goals, the same as Strasbourg’s Joaquin Panichelli.
Panichelli is ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury. L'Équipe explains how Ligue 1 separates players when totals are level.
The primary tie-breaker is fewest penalties scored, and Lepaul has two to Panichelli’s five, so the Rennes forward sits first.
Second comes assists, with the higher total ranked above. If Mason Greenwood, on 15 goals, draws level with Lepaul, he would move ahead thanks to his four assists, one more than the Rennes striker.
Third is the number of different matches in which the goals were scored. Fourth is fewest minutes needed to reach the tally.
Fifth places the player from the team with the most points first. Sixth is fewest red cards, and the seventh and final criterion is fewest yellow cards.
