Lille and PSG clash at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Ligue 1 on Sunday evening.
The Parisians currently sit top of the table with 15 points and secured an impressive 2-1 comeback victory over Barcelona in the Champions League in midweek.
The reigning champions will be looking to maintain their domestic dominance despite facing a mounting injury crisis that has sidelined several key players.
Lille are continuing to deal with a string of injuries as they gear up to face PSG. Centre-back Alexsandro Ribeiro is still out with the muscle injury that kept him out of action against Lyon last week.
Promising youngster Ousmane Toure remains sidelined as he recovers from a long-term cruciate ligament injury. Reserve goalkeeper Marc-Aurele Caillard, meanwhile, is struggling with an elbow issue and is unlikely to feature this weekend.
After their recent Europa League victory over Roma—sealed by an early goal from Hakon Arnar Haraldsson and buoyed by some superb goalkeeping from Berke Ozer—manager Bruno Genesio is expected to largely stick with the same lineup. Lille will likely adopt a familiar 4-2-3-1 shape, with Ozer in goal, a back four of Thomas Meunier, Nathan Ngoy, Aissa Mandi, and Calvin Verdonk.
The midfield pairing should see captain Benjamin Andre alongside the young Ayyoub Bouaddi, both tasked with dictating play and disrupting PSG’s rhythm. The attacking trio will probably feature Felix Correia out wide on the right, Haraldsson at the heart of the attack after his Roma heroics, and Osame Sahraoui on the opposite wing.
Up top, the experienced Olivier Giroud is expected to spearhead the side, hoping to use his experience and hold-up play to cause problems for PSG’s defence.
Luis Enrique faces a major selection headache with six key players unavailable for the trip to Lille. Captain Marquinhos remains sidelined with a left thigh injury that has ruled him out for several weeks.
Ousmane Dembélé continues his rehabilitation after suffering a serious right hamstring injury while on international duty with France, with his recovery expected to take around six weeks. The Ballon d’Or contender’s absence is a significant blow to PSG’s attack.
Désire Doué is still recovering from a right calf injury also sustained during France’s victory over Ukraine in September. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia continues his own recovery from a hamstring injury.
João Neves and Fabián Ruiz are also unavailable. Neves is dealing with a thigh injury, while Ruiz suffered an adductor problem during the Champions League clash with Barcelona.
Genesio’s side started the season brightly with three wins and a draw from their opening four fixtures. However, their domestic form has deteriorated significantly, losing their last two league matches without finding the net.
On the brighter side, they boast a perfect record in the UEFA Europa League following victories over Brann and Roma that demonstrate their ability to perform on the big stage.
Despite their injury problems, PSG have shown remarkable resilience. After suffering a shock 1-0 defeat to Marseille in Le Classique, Luis Enrique’s side have bounced back with impressive victories.
Their 2-0 win over Auxerre was followed by a stunning comeback against Barcelona, where Gonçalo Ramos scored a dramatic late winner. The champions have kept four clean sheets in six league encounters this season.
