Lille’s Edon Zhegrova absent from training on eve of Liverpool tie | OneFootball

Ahead of the trip to Liverpool, Edon Zhegrova (25) was absent from training for Lille OSC, according to a report from L’Équipe.

Lille trained for the final time ahead of their flight to Liverpool on Monday morning. Zhegrova, who has been contending with an adductor injury, was absent from that session, making his presence at Anfield improbable. Matias Fernandez-Pardo, who has impressed on the opposite wing, was also absent for Les Dogues.

Whilst Zhegrova could return to face RC Strasbourg Alsace at the weekend, or at least complete his return to first-team training ahead of that Ligue 1 encounter, Fernandez-Pardo’s return is not imminent. The Belgian winger is struggling with an ankle injury and isn’t expected back until the second half of the month of February.

It is a blow for Lille, who could nonetheless welcome Gabriel Gudmundsson back to the fold, whilst Ethan Mbappé was also involved in first-team training ahead of the match.
