Negotiations between Inter Miami and their Argentine superstar Lionel Messi are progressing rapidly. Both sides have shown a clear desire to continue their partnership, and the captain of the Florida club has already given his verbal agreement to extend his contract, which runs until December 31, 2025.
According to well-informed Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, talks between Messi and the Inter Miami management are at an advanced stage, with only a few details left to finalize before the official announcement.
On (X), Romano specified that the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner is expected to remain part of the ambitious sporting project led by David Beckham—a project in which Messi is clearly thriving. The Argentine has often spoken about his happiness playing in the United States and his attachment to the club’s atmosphere.
On the pitch, Lionel Messi once again delivered a masterclass: in the early hours of Sunday, he scored an exceptional hat-trick against Nashville, propelling Inter Miami into the MLS playoffs.
His coach Javier Mascherano was quick to praise his performance:
“Leo was on top of his game, as always. He played an extraordinary match and deserves all the plaudits. It’s hard to imagine this team without him, and he remains the undisputed favorite for the league’s MVP award.”
The Argentine tactician added:
“I’m extremely pleased with what he brings to the squad. Once again, he was the decisive factor and the key to our victory.”
