Lionel Scaloni names Argentina squad as Rojas and Tomás Palacios called up | OneFootball

According to SuperDepor.com, Lionel Scaloni has named his Argentina squad for the 31 March friendly against Guatemala at the Estadio Alberto J. Armando, better known as La Bombonera.

Notable inclusions are Gabriel Rojas, Racing's left-back, and Tomás Palacios, the Estudiantes de La Plata centre-back.

Goalkeepers selected are Emiliano "Dibu" Martínez, Gerónimo Rulli and Juan Musso. The defenders are Nahuel Molina, Gonzalo Montiel, Cristian Romero, Leonardo Balerdi, Marcos Senesi, Nicolás Otamendi, Nicolás Tagliafico, Marcos Acuña, plus Rojas and Palacios.

Midfield options are Leandro Paredes, Máximo Perrone, Alexis Mac Allister, Enzo Fernández, Valentín Barco, Rodrigo de Paul and Exequiel Palacios.

The forwards are Lionel Messi, Nico Paz, Gianluca Prestianni, Nicolás González, Giuliano Simeone, Thiago Almada, José López and Julián Álvarez.

Lautaro Martínez misses out after suffering an injury a few weeks ago with Inter of Italy, and has not yet fully recovered.

This will be Argentina's final outing before the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, where they will seek a fourth star to match Italy and Germany and sit one behind Brazil.

During this FIFA window they had been due to play the Finalissima against Spain in Qatar, but it was suspended because of the war in the Middle East and a failure by the AFA and RFEF to agree a new venue.
