Liverpool moved another step close to claiming a record-equalling 20th English league title with Merseyside derby victory over Everton on Wednesday night.

Everton striker Beto had a goal ruled out for offside in an eventful first half, before also going on to hit the post after going one-on-one with Caoimhin Kelleher. Toffees skipper James Tarkowski also controversially avoided a red card following a reckless challenge on Alexis Mac Allister.

But if Everton had the better of the opening 45 minutes, Liverpool made their opportunity count when Luis Diaz's clever flick and Diogo Jota's quick feet in the penalty area saw the latter break the deadlock just under an hour in.
