Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Jarell Quansah over a potential return to the club from Bayer Leverkusen.

Quansah is being considered as a potential option for the Reds following the failure to agree a new contract with Ibrahima Konate. The latter is set to sign for Real Madrid when his contract at Anfield expires next month.

Liverpool sold Quansah to Leverkusen last summer for a fee in the region of £34m, but inserted a buy-back clause in that sale.

The Merseysiders can re-sign the England international for a £55m fee, with the Liverpool Echo reporting that Liverpool have already discussed personal terms with Quansah’s camp.

Liverpool are considering a number of centre-back options, though Quansah is among them after an impressive first campaign in Germany.

The 23-year-old made 28 league appearances for Leverkusen and scored four Bundesliga goals.

He has been included in the England squad for this summer’s World Cup by Thomas Tuchel, ahead of names such as Harry Maguire and Fikayo Tomori.
