In a recent report, journalist James Marshment revealed that Liverpool are eyeing an urgent move for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi in January. It is understood that the Reds have made the English centre-back’s signing a priority this winter following Giovanni Leoni’s serious injury earlier this week.
Guehi has enjoyed a decent run of form at the London club during this campaign as he has already put in a run of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 25-year-old has featured in nine matches for the Eagles this season, scoring one goal on all fronts.
The English talent has been a rock at the back for Crystal Palace and deserves credit for making ten tackles, six interceptions and 21 clearances in the Premier League so far. He has even distributed possession relatively well after completing 85.4% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at Selhurst Park will run out at the end of this campaign. Thus, Liverpool could potentially sign him on a cut-price deal this January or on a free transfer next summer.

Guehi loves a tackle and can sense the danger well to earn the ball back for his side on the defensive end of the field. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the offensive.
The English talent can even play his way out from inside his half. Guehi is a great leader on the field as well. He has already proven his worth in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Liverpool.
Guehi would add more quality and depth to Arne Slot’s defence. He is good enough to serve as an ideal cover for Ibrahima Konate and Virgil Van Dijk at the Merseyside club.
At 25, Guehi has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Reds to consider next year. Due to the recent injury to Giovanni Leoni, it would be a no-brainer for Slot to move in for the Crystal Palace skipper in the January transfer window.
