Liverpool hold an interest in Juventus right-back Nicolo Savona and could be set to battle Manchester City for the signing of the Italian this summer, as per a new report.

The newly-crowned Premier League champions are in the market of a right-back after Trent Alexander-Arnold confirmed he will be leaving at the end of the season ahead of joining Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Conor Bradley, another academy graduate, has been tipped to replace Alexander-Arnold at right-back – but the Reds are still looking for a possible signing to bolster their prospects in the position – as they look to retain the Premier League next term and challenge for the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester City have money to spend this summer and incoming sporting director Hugo Viana will lead the 2023 treble winners in their attempts to land four to five first-team additions after a sub-par 2024/25 campaign that saw Pep Guardiola’s side falter in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

Kyle Walker joined AC Milan in January after a horrid few months of form at Manchester City and recent club briefings indicate that the Sheffield-born defender has no future at the Etihad Stadium – and will be sold when he returns from Italy at the end of the season.

As a result, Manchester City are targeting at least one full-back in the upcoming transfer window – and despite the competence shown by the trio of Rico Lewis, Abdukodir Khusanov and Matheus Nunes in filling in for Walker since January – there is an acceptance that full-back is an area where City need to strengthen.

As reported by Tutto Juve as relayed by Sport Witness, Liverpool have entered the race for Juventus right-back Nicolo Savona, who has also been identified as a possible signing by bosses at the Etihad Stadium.

Juventus are not in a rush to sell the 22-year-old full-back and value Savona in the region of €20-25 million, as per Football Italia. However, Manchester City would likely need to cough up a higher sum to convince the Serie A side to part ways with one of their brightest young prospects.

Liverpool have also entered the race to sign Savona and hold an initial interest in the Italian as they identify possible replacements for the outgoing Alexander-Arnold – whilst assessing the prospect of Conor Bradley taking the mantle from the soon-to-be Real Madrid man.

Juventus would welcome Liverpool’s interest as that will only raise the Italian outfit’s asking price for Savona, who is under contract in Turin till the end of the 2028-29 campaign and has impressed in the first-team ranks this season.
