Liverpool put an end to four straight defeats in style, coming from behind to thrash Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 in the Champions League.
Hugo Ekitike, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konaté, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai all found the net as Arne Slot’s side bounced back in emphatic fashion.
The Reds got off to a sluggish start, with Frankfurt’s pacey duo Jean-Matteo Bahoya and Ansgar Knauff testing them early on. The hosts took the lead on 26 minutes when Rasmus Kristensen curled a low strike past Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Liverpool hit back quickly: Ekitike, against his former club, raced on to Andy Robertson’s pass to equalise, before Van Dijk headed in a Gakpo corner and Konaté added a third from another set-piece just before half-time.
The second half saw Liverpool dominate further. Florian Wirtz provided the assists for Gakpo’s fourth and Szoboszlai’s long-range fifth, sealing a comprehensive win.
After a tricky few weeks, Liverpool’s emphatic display in Frankfurt provides a clear statement: their season is far from over.
