Liverpool can actually buy a Real Madrid player after Fabrizio Romano's latest update.

What is it with Real Madrid? They seem to love taking away the Reds' best players. They've done it back-to-back now with Ibrahima Konate and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

To make matters even worse, both were on a free transfer.

But this is not the first instance of Real Madrid being greedy. They took Alvaro Arbeloa and Xabi Alonso back in 2009, bringing in two of the best players at Liverpool at the time.

Before that it was Michael Owen and before that Steve McManaman.

Time and time again Real Madrid just use Liverpool as some sort of feeder club. Taking away the best players and time and time again aside from Alonso and Arbeloa, it doesn't really work.

McManaman did alright, Owen was a flop, Alexander-Arnold is heading that way. So, why don't Liverpool players learn? Why don't Real Madrid pivot their strategy and have some mercy on the Reds?

It's a mystery.

But obviously, Liverpool's misery with Real Madrid doesn't just end with transfers, there's also the small matter of what's been happening on the pitch.

After Paris in 1981, Liverpool have suffered two Champions League final defeats at the hands of Real Madrid. Both were equally heart-breaking.

The first in 2018 was the start of a new era, and the last in 2022 felt like the end of an era with Jurgen Klopp's Reds having run their course.

It's about time Liverpool gave Real Madrid some payback. Last season's victory over them and Conor Bradley's slide tackle wasn't enough.

Liverpool need to actually get revenge, and they've done that already this summer with the signing of Victor Munoz, who Real Madrid wanted to bring back to the club.

However, Munoz chose Liverpool because of guaranteed playing time and the alluring Andoni Iraola factor as well. Munoz could prove to be an excellent signing. Someone, who might flourish in a Red shirt and make Real Madrid regret the fact that they let him go all along.

But Munoz is not the only Real Madrid player Liverpool could be targeting this summer.

A couple of seasons ago, Real Madrid's academy was stacked with talent. Munoz was one of the leading stars of the team.

But this team also included Gonzalo Garcia, Jacobo Ramon, Chema Andres and Nico Paz - all of whom have gone onto do really well in Europe's top five leagues and become the leading hopes of Spain's future.

Paz is the only exception because he has chosen to represent Argentine, where in the coming years he might have to be tasked with the unenviable task of replacing Lionel Messi.

Nobody will want to play that role for Argentine, but Paz is a player who could undeniably be a future star. He just excelled at Como in Serie A and was one of the best young players in Europe's top five leagues last season.

A creative midfielder, Paz can play out wide as well and he's versatile capable of playing as a no.8, which is why he should appear on Liverpool's radar.

Liverpool need versatile attackers and midfielders this summer. Paz fits both profiles, and best of all he's available for €60m.

Fabrizio Romano issued a statement that Real Madrid will activate their buy-back clause for Paz from Como but then are open to selling him for €60m. This offer is being made to Como, whether they accept it or not remains to be seen but Liverpool should try to hijack it.
