That means signing experienced, Premier League-proven campaigners. While attention has been focused on Marc Guehi, the Crystal Palace captain who came so close to joining over the summer, there is another potential transfer target hiding in plain sight.
Richard Hughes oversaw the signing of Marcos Senesi for Bournemouth back in 2022. The Argentina international had just helped Arne Slot’s Feyenoord to the UEFA Conference League final - with the Cherries securing his signature for only £12.6m.
Since then the left-footer has established himself as one of the most consistent centre-backs in the Premier League and looks destined for a big move this summer.

But if Liverpool were smart they would swoop in for Senesi right now - heading off a summer clamour for his signature.
Senesi suffered an indifferent season in 2024/25 - with a significant hamstring injury opening the door to Dean Huijsen. However he is now back to his consistent best - even if Bournemouth’s results haven’t always been great this term under Andoni Iraola.
