Liverpool can celebrate a fantastic decision from Mo Salah. It's exactly what Arne Slot and company wanted to hear.
Liverpool haven't had an easy go of it over the last month or so. They've been losing at an alarming rate, with five defeats in their last six league games.
Things simply need to reset after the international break and Arne Slot desperately needs to find something that works. A big part of that will be getting the best out of Mo Salah - something Liverpool have simply failed to do this season.
The Egyptian is frequently on the fringes of games, unable to take up the positions he did to great effect last season. While he's still managed four goals and two assists in the league, he's not anywhere near the levels he was in 2024/25.
Though, if Slot is to do that, he needs a bit of help. This isn't going to be easy as he juggles several world-class players, several of whom aren't finding rhythm.
But it appears Salah has found a way to give him that help.
Egypt will now select Salah for their friendly against Cape Verde this week. They’ve released a statement on the Egyptian FA website confirming that the captain will be ‘rested’.
It’s fantastic news for Salah, who only played the one game through the international break and now gets a full week of rest ahead of Liverpool’s return to action this weekend. The Reds will host Nottingham Forest on Saturday the 22nd.
Slot can’t really ask for more, then. The busiest fixture period of the season is on the way and Salah won’t go into it tired. It’s the best possible chance of recapturing his form, essentially - something that would be perfect ahead of December.
