Liverpool's long-term future in the heart of the backline at Anfield has been given a massive boon, with the Premier League holders completing a move for Rennes and French youth international star Jérémy Jacquet.

The Reds, who fought off interest from league rival Chelsea for the 20-year-old centre-back, have shelled out £55m+£5m to acquire the services of the Bondy-born defender.
Jacquet will not join up with Arne Slot's Mersyeside outfit during the current 2025/26 season, however, as he is set to finish out the current campaign at Roazhon Park with Les Rouge et Noirs remain embroiled in a European dog fight in Ligue 1.
One of the brightest young defenders in Europe, Jacquet emerged from Rennes' academy set up in 2023 before enjoying a credible loan spell with Clermont Foot during the 2024/25 season.
Since then, the French U21 star has featured prominently at every youth level for Les Bleus, and should be in line to fight his way into the Liverpool XI next season.
Jacquet is among the long list of footballers who hail from Bondy, including Kylian Mbappé, William Saliba, and Randal Kolo Muani.
