The Frenchman followed Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson out of the Anfield doors and left for free at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Konate's future had been up in the air for some time and, since an agreement for a new Liverpool deal couldn't be reached, it meant that the Reds lost yet another one of their first-team players to Real Madrid for nothing.

This has led to many centre-backs being linked with a Liverpool move and now, the Reds may be able to replace the Frenchman for just £30 million.

Liverpool should join the race for Trevoh Chalobah

At the moment, Cesc Fabregas' Como are the ones leading the transfer race for Trevoh Chalobah.

The Englishman has been outcast by Chelsea and has been put onto the transfer market.

The Serie A outfit have just made an initial bid worth around €27 million (£23 million) for the defender which has been rejected.

However, since the Blues don't want anything to do with him and want him gone, they've come back with a counter offer worth around €35 million (£30 million) after add-ons.

This, for a 26-year-old centre-back who's had five years worth of experience in the Premier League, feels like an absolute steal.

And, since one of the main problems Liverpool are facing at the moment is the lack of homegrown players among their squad, there's no reason why they shouldn't be making a move for the centre-back this summer.

Trevoh Chalobah could easily be Ibrahima Konate's successor at Liverpool

Since Chalobah has played as a right-sided centre-back for most of his career, the Englishman would slot perfectly into Liverpool's starting XI.

During his five years in the Premier League, the Englishman has been a regular feature for Chelsea.

In fact, in the 2025-26 season alone, he played in 47 games for the Blues as a centre-back and a right-back.

This versatility is what got him called up to Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad after Tino Livramento was ruled out with an injury.

He's even scored three Premier League goals this term which proves how much of a threat he is in and around the box.

Defensively, he's also fairly solid as, in the Premier League alone, he maintained a pass accuracy of 93 per cent and won 55.6 per cent of his aerial duels [Fotmob].

He also made 35 tackles and 35 interceptions while also recovering the ball 119 times.

These statistics, coupled with how cheap a deal for him would be make him an ideal candidate to replace Konate at Liverpool this summer, especially with how many areas of their team that they need to upgrade.
