Ibrahima Konate has emerged as a possible target for Real Madrid considering that his contract with Liverpool expires in 2026.
Having already reinforced their centre-back department with Dean Huijsen this summer, Los Blancos are plotting a swoop for the French international next year when his contract runs out.
Now, according to journalist Santi Aouna of Footmercato, Konate intends to leave Liverpool an move on to a new adventure when his contract expires in 2026. And Real Madrid are his preferred destination.
Liverpool had feared a repeat of the Trent Alexander-Arnold situation – and those fears were well-founded.
Aware that the circumstances were not in their favour, the Premier League champions initiated talks for a contract extension, but these have so far failed to produce an agreement.

As things stand, Konate appears set for a departure in 2026 after five years at Anfield, where he established himself as a key figure alongside Virgil van Dijk.
Several top clubs have already been informed about Konate’s situation and are monitoring the situation closely. Among them are Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Born in Paris, Konate could be tempted by a return to the French capital, though other clubs are also interested in signing him on a free transfer.
However, the French international’s personal preference, is believed to be Real Madrid, where he could link up with former teammate Alexander-Arnold once again.
Liverpool are unlikely to give up easily and will make further efforts to convince him to sign a renewal. But at this point, an exit seems likely and Konate is leaning towards Real Madrid as his next club.
