Liverpool defender would consider leaving club only for Real Madrid – report | OneFootball

Ibrahima Konate is a name which has been prominently been linked with a move to Real Madrid in the recent past.

The Liverpool centre-back has emerged as a long-term target for Los Blancos, who are reportedly eyeing a Bosman move for the defender when his contract expires in 2026.

Real Madrid could have gone for Konate this summer as well, but it appears the club want to sign him for free.

According to Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri (h/t Bernabeu Digital), Real Madrid have been handed a big boost in their pursuit of Konate.

It appears the Liverpool defender has made a clear decision: if he does leave Anfield, he will only join Real Madrid.

This is a big boost for Los Blancos, who might require a fresh face in defence amid David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger’s uncertain future at the club.

The report adds that Konate considers Real Madrid as an ideal club to continue his growth and therefore, he is keen on making the move to Bernabeu.

Tavolieri adds that Konate’s agent has already informed Real Madrid of his decision, with the defender ready to wait until 2026 to make the move, quite similar to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

From a tactical perspective, Konate would be an ideal addition to the Real Madrid defence, as the Frenchman brings a wealth of experience to the table.

He has experience in Bundesliga and the Premier League, having already featured in 132 competitive matches for the Reds.

With Rudiger not getting any younger, Konate could be a perfect complement for the likes of Raul Asencio and Dean Huijsen, as Xabi Alonso looks to build the core of the Real Madrid for the years to come.
