Liverpool are studying possible move for Brentford defender Michael Kayode as Arne Slot looks to strengthen the right side of defense.

Why Liverpool are tracking Kayode

Reports say Liverpool are thinking about making offer for Michael Kayode, the Italian right-back who plays for Brentford.

The interest comes as head coach Arne Slot plans ahead for the 2026 /27 season.

According to TEAMtalk, Slot told the recruitment team that he wants a more dynamic right-back, able to make fast runs, deliver long throws and keep high work rate throughout matches.

Liverpool expect any deal to be expensive, with Brentford asking for around £50 million.

Injury problems force Liverpool to look elsewhere

Liverpool’s interest is linked to problems at right-back this season.

Jeremie Frimpong has struggled with injuries and has played only 19 match while Conor Bradley is set to miss the rest of the season because of knee injury.

With limited options available, Liverpool exploring the market early to avoid another difficult season in that position.

Strong competition for the defender

Kayode 21 has impressed since arriving at Brentford after moving from Fiorentina, first on loan and later on permanent deal.

His performances have also caught the attention of Manchester United & Newcastle United who are both monitoring his situation.

Brentford see Kayode as a key player and are in no rush to sell which explains the high price tag placed on the Italy U21 international.

Wider plans at Anfield

The report adds that Liverpool are planning busy period in the transfer market.

The club is also considering moves for center-back, a left-back and central midfielder. A new right winger could also be needed if Mohamed Salah leaves the club.

At the same time, Liverpool are reviewing the futures of Ibrahima Konate & Curtis Jones while a possible sale of one winger could help raise around £16 million.
