Arne Slot's first-team squad have not been their usual selves this season.

Most people expected the Anfield outfit to be unstoppable, especially since they signed players such as Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz in the summer.

However, due to things such as injuries and the lack of harmony among the squad, things just haven't gone to plan.

This lack of form has caused chaos for Liverpool with the club miles off the pace compared to their title rivals Manchester City and Arsenal.

So, with all of this in mind, it's hardly surprising to see Liverpool get linked with many different players.

And now, they've actually been told the asking price for one of their long-term targets.

Liverpool would only need to spend £34.5 million to sign Maxence Lacroix

Liverpool's defence have been lacklustre this term.

Only Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson can say that they've put in mostly solid performances despite the Reds spending £45 million on Milos Kerkez and £29.5 million on Jeremie Frimpong.

This lack of form has caused more than one problem for Liverpool which all need to be resolved in the upcoming summer transfer window.

That's why almost every day Liverpool's fanbase have seen new links emerge for players in every position.

And now, the Reds have finally been told how much they'd need to spend if they want to sign Crystal Palace's Maxence Lacroix this summer.

That is, if an update from RMC Sport is to be believed.

"The story between Maxence Lacroix and Crystal Palace could be coming to an end," they wrote.

"According to several sources close to the matter, the French defender is expected to play his last match for the Eagles this Sunday against Arsenal.

"For his part, Maxence Lacroix has a clear idea of the next step in his career.

"The Frenchman prefers a club that has qualified for the next Champions League, a criterion that has become central to his decision when choosing his future destination.

"To convince Palace to release their player, suitors will have to open their wallets. A minimum of €40 million will be required to even begin negotiations."

Maxence Lacroix would be a perfect replacement for Ibrahima Konate

Even though Liverpool may want to keep hold of Ibrahima Konate this season, it doesn't feel all that likely to happen.

The Frenchman is now into the final month of his current contract and, even though talks have been going on all season, both parties have failed to come to an agreement.

Several clubs are vying for his transfer with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid among the most linked.

And, even though it would hurt Liverpool if they lost him for nothing, Lacroix could be a perfect replacement.

The Frenchman already has plenty of Premier League experience and, since Palace are in the final of the Conference League, he's also had a decent chunk of European experience.

At 26 years old he's the perfect age to continue growing and perhaps take over from Van Dijk and become the defensive leader in the future.

Lacroix has been described as a "magic" player and, for a fee worth around £35 million, a move would be a no-brainer for Liverpool.
