Liverpool Submit £100m Bradley Barcola Offer as PSG Talks Continue

Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola is advancing, with negotiations continuing this week as the club look to strengthen Andoni Iraola’s attacking options before the new season. Credit to DaveOCKOP, who report that contact between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain remains active and that an opening proposal has now been lodged.

Barcola is understood to be keen on the move. The report states that the France winger has already “verbally agreed to join the club” following discussions with Iraola and senior figures at Anfield. That remains short of a completed deal, with “no contractual terms have been agreed yet”, but the player’s stance appears clear and Liverpool have moved accordingly.

The first offer is described as being “in the region £100M of plus various add-ons tied to Premier League and Champions League successes the club may achieve.” That structure is a key point in the current discussions. PSG are said to be resisting elements of the package, particularly where the bonuses are harder to trigger. The French side “want more achievable clauses relating to things like player performance for example”, and that has created the expected room for further negotiation.

There is little surprise in that. PSG “will not part ways with the former Olympique Lyon winger easily” and Liverpool are naturally seeking to avoid meeting the full asking price outright. More talks are anticipated, with “more back-and-forth between the two clubs” likely in the days ahead.

There may also be movement elsewhere that shapes this situation. “Luis Enrique is closing in on the signing of Maghnes Akliouche of Monaco”, a development viewed as a possible domino in any decision from PSG on Barcola’s future.

From Liverpool’s side, the need is established. Iraola has already indicated the club are working on a winger and recognises the need for another option in wide areas. This is now one to watch closely.

Our View

As a Liverpool supporter, this feels like the sort of move that can lift the whole attack. Barcola is young, quick, direct and already playing at an elite level, so hearing that he has “verbally agreed to join the club” is hugely encouraging. That kind of signal matters, because top deals often start with the player making his intentions clear.

The price is obviously massive at “in the region £100M”, and supporters will naturally wonder whether that is too much. Still, if Liverpool truly believe he is the right fit for Iraola’s system, then this is where the club have to be brave. Wide players with genuine game-changing quality are expensive, and PSG were always going to be difficult negotiators.

What stands out most is that the club seem to be acting with purpose. Iraola has identified the need for another winger, and Liverpool appear to be pushing hard for one of the best young options on the market. If the add-ons are the sticking point, there is every chance a compromise can still be found.

For fans, the exciting part is imagining what Barcola could bring to Anfield, pace, flair, unpredictability and another level of depth across the front line. If this gets done, it would feel like a statement signing and a real sign of intent for the season ahead.
