Reds have some key concerns ahead of Manchester United and Chelsea clashes in Premier League run-in
Mohamed Salah may have played his last game for Liverpool after suffering an injury ahead of next weekend’s huge showdown with Manchester United.
The Reds legend will leave Anfield this summer on a free transfer to end nine illustrious years on Merseyside, but may have already donned the famous red shirt for the final time.
Salah was injured during the second half of Saturday’s eventful 3-1 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League and with just four games remaining this term, may have to watch the closing stages of his last campaign with Liverpool from the sidelines.
Alisson Becker was not quite ready to return against Palace and with usual deputy Giorgi Mamardashvili also injured, third-choice goalkeeper Freddie Woodman made his first league start for Liverpool and was perhaps unlucky not to keep a clean sheet as he made several fine saves and controversy reigned over Daniel Munoz’s second-half goal.
Joe Gomez featured from the bench after missing the dramatic Merseyside derby win over Everton, though long-term absentees Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni all remained out, as did Wataru Endo, Jayden Danns and Stefan Bajcetic.
With that high-profile trip to Old Trafford coming up ahead of games against Chelsea, Aston Villa and Brentford, here is all the latest Liverpool injury news and return dates.
Salah started in attack once more for Liverpool against Palace and was heavily involved in the action, seeing a first-half penalty award by referee Andy Madley following a risky sliding challenge from Brennan Johnson overturned following a VAR review.
But the Egyptian forward went down off the ball and clutching the back of his left leg just before the hour mark at Anfield, looking crestfallen as he appeared to suffer a hamstring injury.
He was replaced by Jeremie Frimpong and clapped all four stands as he slowly made his way off the pitch, sparking fears that he may well now have played his final match for Liverpool ahead of further assessments.
Manager Arne Slot said: “We don't know, that's the best answer I can give because if I say it might be a chance then probably all the headlines are, 'there might be a chance…'

“We simply don't know but what we do know is the season is in four weeks over, so there are not a lot of games being played.
“We have to wait and see how his injury is and if he is able to return to play.
“What I do know about Mo is throughout all of these years he has taken such good care of his body that he will have the minimum time required to recover from an injury.
“Let's hope for the best and that he is available in the last part [of the season].”
Potential return date: Unknown, pending further assessment
Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper has not played since the 4-0 Champions League last-16 second-leg win over Galatasaray at Anfield on March 18, having suffered another hamstring injury.
Alisson has now missed seven matches in a row across all competitions as Slot confirmed that the club would look into his frequent muscle injuries and also appeared to cast some doubt on his Reds future amid ongoing transfer interest, though he was back in training last week and there was initially thought to be a chance that he could start against Palace.
He just missed out in the end as Woodman was backed up by youngster Armin Pecsi, though it seems likely that the 33-year-old will be available to face Manchester United.

Asked how close Alisson was to playing against Palace, Slot said: “Almost but also not 'almost' – that means that he's close to a return to play but not close enough to start.
“So, I didn't have to tell Freddie. I did, of course, but I think it was quite clear and obvious for him during the week that he would start this game today.”

Alisson’s absence has been compounded by that of Mamardashvili, who deputised in goal before being stretchered off with a knee injury during the second half of the Merseyside derby, leading summer signing Woodman to come on and make his first Premier League appearance since 2021.
The Georgian international was taken to hospital for treatment on what Slot described as a “big wound” following a collision with Everton striker Beto and reports stated that he would be sidelined for between two to four weeks, putting him on track to return at some point in May.
“Giorgi will definitely not be available for tomorrow and also not for the upcoming weeks,” Slot said before the win over Palace.
Liverpool’s biggest injury blow in recent weeks concerned Ekitike, who went down off the ball with a serious-looking Achilles injury during the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash with former club Paris Saint-Germain.
He was subsequently diagnosed with a ruptured tendon and has since undergone successful surgery, ruling him out for the remainder of this season, the start of the next and this summer’s World Cup finals with France.
Liverpool have not put an exact time frame on Ekitike’s recovery, but it has been reported that he could be out of action for up to nine months, which would leave him unable to play again in 2026.

“The surgery went well,” Slot said last week. “That's the first important step that he had to make.
“But I think in such a long rehab process there are so many crucial steps to be made before you can actually say it's going to take that amount of months or that amount of months. It's going to take a long time.”
Potential return date: Late 2026/early 2027
Endo has not featured for Liverpool since being stretchered off during the 1-0 win at Sunderland on February 11 as the result of an ankle injury that he recently explained was a serious ligament issue that needed an operation to repair.
The versatile Japanese midfielder was back out on the grass at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre last week, but is yet to resume team activities as he bids to return before the end of the season.
“Wata is starting to go outside,” Slot said. “Not with the team yet, but starting to do exercises outside on the pitch with the rehab team so he is making steps, but he will not be available next week for [Manchester] United or the week after.
“But we are hoping and expecting him to be back in the end of the season.”
Potential return date: May

Right-back Bradley suffered a season-ending knee injury against Arsenal in January and underwent surgery that won’t see him return until pre-season at the earliest.
Potential return date: Summer/next season
Summer signing Leoni sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on his Liverpool debut against Southampton in the Carabao Cup third round at Anfield back in September.
He had surgery and was ruled out for around a year, so also won’t play again until next season.
However, it seems that Leoni is making good progress with his rehabilitation, with Slot recently saying: “If you look at Giovanni Leoni, I don't know if you once in a while see some Instagram posts from the club, this guy becomes a beast.”
