German footballing journalist Christian Falk – speaking on Sport Bild’s Bayern Insider Podcast – confirms reports originating in Italy’s Gazetta dello Sport regarding the future of Bayern Munich attacker Serge Gnabry, Juventus are among the clubs interested in acquiring the 30-year-old Bundesliga professional on a free for next season. Liverpool are nevertheless also in the race.

Gnabry sits on an expiring contract. As such, the Stuttgart native is permitted to negotiate a free transfer with other clubs as soon as the January transfer window opens. As Gnabry approaches the twilight of his career, one can well imagine him heading back to England with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove. The famous Arsenal and West Brom bust famously failed to hack it under experienced Premier League coaches such as Arsene Wenger and Tony Pulis. A return to the Isle could help Gnabry slay long festering demons.

Bayern remain in negotiations with Gnabry’s camp over a possible contract extension. It stands to reason that, wherever Ganbry ends up playing football next season, he will have to take a pay cut. Gnabry currently earns between €17m and €19m per year with the German record champions.
