Liverpool have reportedly made an approach for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

According to the reliable David Ornstein of The Athletic, the Premier League champions have 'communicated their interest' in signing the Swedish international.

The Reds are apparently valuing a transfer for Isak at around £120 million although Newcastle are keen to keep their star man who scored 27 goals in 42 competitions for the Magpies last season.

Eddie Howe's side have been linked with a move for Hugo Ekitiké, who bagged 22 goals for Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2024/25 campaign, but may not need to sell Isak to complete the move.

Arne Slot's side have already spent just under £200 million during this transfer window, including the £25 million of Giorgi Mamardashvili which was agreed last season for this summer.

A new striker is on the agenda for Liverpool with Darwin Núñez being linked with a move away from the club.
