Liverpool now ENTER talks to sign African superstar

It's not very usual for Liverpool to enter the market during the winter window. But it has happened in the past. Curiously, it happened with two left-wingers.

In January 2022, Liverpool signed Luis Diaz, to replace the soon to be departing Sadio Mane. Then in January 2023, they signed Cody Gakpo, to be the replacement for the soon to be departing Roberto Firmino.

Both of these transfers were initially planned as summer moves. But they were brought forward when a rival club made an attempt to sign the duo.

The same appears to be happening now for another winger.

Liverpool have been long-term admirers of Antoine Semenyo. Hughes brought the Ghanaian international, who won't be at the African Cup of Nations this year, to Bournemouth.

Semenyo has since established himself as one of the best wingers in the Premier League. He's also become a superstar for his nation and wore the captain's armband in a recent outing for Ghana against Japan.

The race is heating up for Semenyo, with a number of clubs interested in his services. He could be the perfect option for Liverpool given his playing style is exactly what Arne Slot's side is missing at the moment.

Semenyo's comfortability to play on the right-wing could also make him an ideal future replacement for Mohamed Salah.

It's why Liverpool are so keen to sign him and beat competition.

Hughes is really trying to work ahead of everyone else. According to DaveOCKOP Liverpool have even entered talks with Bournemouth over the signing of Semenyo this weekend.

That's the proactive approach we like to see. Hopefully, it works out the same way as Hughes' activity in the summer window. There's no question Semenyo's addition would be mouthwatering for Liverpool.
