Liverpool have had a spectacular start to the season, winning 15 of their opening 17 games, but that hasn’t stopped the Reds recruitment team from planning ahead.

Arne Slot looks to already have his new side in a position where they can compete for the biggest trophies and Liverpool sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League as well as being the only team to maintain a 100% record in the UEFA Champions League.

The Reds’ sensational start has seen the emergence of Ryan Gravenberch in the midfield and a resurgence for Luis Diaz and Ibrahima Konate.

Despite the great form of Gravenberch and Curtis Jones, as well as solid performances from Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, the Liverpool recruitment team are looking to make an ambitious move to bolster the midfield.

Liverpool will ask about Tchouameni when Real Madrid visit Anfield

Slot’s side will play Real Madrid at Anfield on 27 November, and the Reds are going to be opportunistic when Los Blancos visit Merseyside.

According to a report from Defensa Central, a Real Madrid-focused outlet, Liverpool will ask about the availability of Aurelien Tchouameni ahead of a potential move next summer.

The Reds’ interest in Tchouameni dates back to before his move to Madrid, but a move has been rumoured a lot recently following a poor run of form for the Frenchman.

The report claims that Tchouameni has a market value of around €100 million but Football Transfers estimate it to be around the €50 million mark.

Would Tchouameni fit at Anfield?

Although Gravenberch has been arguably Liverpool’s best player this season there is still room for Tchouameni in Slot’s team, despite the fact the Frenchman plays a very similar position to his Dutch counterpart.

The Reds’ options beyond Gravenberch are currently limited, with Wataru Endo only being afforded a handful of minutes this season and approaching his 32nd birthday.

Tyler Morton is another option available to Slot, but he too has struggled for minutes, despite looking impressive when he has played.

There is also scope for Gravenberch to play alongside Tchouameni, with one player filling the slightly more advanced role that has typically belonged to Mac Allister this season.

Defensive midfield was a priority for Liverpool last summer, and it appears that it’s a position the recruitment team are continuing to look at. A deal for Tchouameni is definitely not imminent but the 24-year-old could be an interesting option for the Reds should they choose to reinforce the midfield next summer.
