Liverpool FC have reportedly stopped their ambitious pursuit of Swedish striker Alexander Isak after Newcastle United rejected a staggering £110 million bid, according to BBC Sport and reporter Ben Jacobs.
The Merseyside club tabled the offer without add-ons, making it one of the most significant transfer bids in their recent history. However, Newcastle’s firm stance on keeping their star forward has brought negotiations to a dead end.
According to Jacobs, personal terms with Isak were not an obstacle — suggesting that the 25-year-old striker was open to the move — but the Magpies' unwillingness to negotiate made further talks redundant.
With their top target now off the table and the Premier League season just weeks away, Liverpool are likely to turn to alternatives. However, the Reds will still be boosted by the earlier summer arrivals of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike
Newcastle United’s hardline approach will be seen as a statement. Backed by deep financial resources and aiming to build on their Champions League ambitions, the Magpies are evidently determined to retain their best players — even in the face of record-breaking offers.
