Liverpool are reportedly prepared to beat Chelsea to a €6m-a-year contract agreement. The latest addition to the Reds' squad?
Liverpool know that they'll need to rethink their squad even after spending over £400m in the summer. The signings just haven't had the effect they were planned to have.
Of course, it was always going to be difficult. Liverpool overhauled a title-winning squad - something you essentially never see in football.
But the idea was to give Arne Slot his team, rather than asking him to make Jurgen Klopp's squad work. The problem is that this new group doesn't really seem to click together. At least, not in the way Liverpool want them to.
That forces them back into the transfer market as they look to find something that does work. And really, every position on the pitch is up for grabs right now.
That'll be why Liverpool are refusing to give up on one of the best young attacking midfielders around.
Tuttosport reports that Liverpool are firmly in the race for Kenan Yildiz. Teams are placing a lot of pressure on the situation at Juventus, hoping to stop the player agreeing a new deal.
Yildiz apparently earns around €1.5m per year. He's chasing €6m in new contract talks, however - and those talks have gone on for a while now. They don't appear to be going all that well, either.
Which brings Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid into the fray. Among others, too.
